The nominated responsible person (s) should test the fire detection system at a different manual call point each week and the sign the logbook to confirm that the system is operating correctly.
The fire alarm installer should have shown the responsible person (s) how to test and operate the fire detection system.
Normally logbooks are located around the fire alarm panel.
In addition to this, there should a servicing and maintenance contract in place which would also cover any emergencies callout requests.
Dependent on the risk assessment, the fire detection system must be tested at least twice a year normally every six months by a suitably trained, experienced, competent and insured contracting company.
