The £80 EICR Electricians
Don't be fooled by cheap Electricians!!!
Would you put the safety of your family or tenants in the hand of the cheapest electrician that you can find?
This scenario may suit some out here who think an EICR is just a piece of paper and an unnecessary expense. However, bear in mind that negligence may not be covered by the contractor’s insurance policy in the event of consequence.
Is it possible to complete a three-bedroom domestic Electrical Installation Condition Reports for £80.00?
The short answer is no. To test, inspect and type up a EICR takes around 4 man-hours. That’s if you have years of experience with the right equipment and are proactive onsite. So let's take the £80.00 EICR example, qualified and registered electricians can get £20.00 per hour and more working for a company without any risk and 1 month of holiday, sick pay and a van.
Which begs the question, how do they make profits out of this?
From some of the completed EICR’s that have been carried out by the £80.00 electricians. I know they have not tested it correctly by how the EICR has been filled out, without getting too technical, they have either passed an electrical installation that should not have been passed and left potentially dangerous situations. Or they have failed an electrical installation in order to pick up work. Either way, they compete on price and need to have higher volumes of work.
At 786 Electricals Ltd we carry out professional electrical inspection and testing services to the standard and in an ethical way. Of course, we would like for the property to be satisfactory. But would you not want to know if something is not quite right???
